Well, here’s something special: L.A. rap hope Kendrick Lamar teaming up with Midwestern soul singer BJ The Chicago Kid on a jazzy, regretful, pain-wracked song about the vagaries of fate. Anytime you hear someone’s voice cracking on a rap song, you know there’s some serious emotion in play, and this one renders that emotion with vivid confused-kid intensity.
